Total Organic Carbon Water Test

Recommended for targeted testing of total organic carbon (TOC) in a drinking water sample. TOC analysis measures the concentration of organic molecules in water (those with carbon-hydrogen bonds). While nearly all water, no matter how pure, contains some carbon-based material, TOC measurements are a useful and common metric for assessing overall organic contamination from natural substances, insecticides, herbicides, and other agricultural or industrial chemicals. TOC analysis is commonly conducted in pharmaceutical and industrial applications.TOC analysis can also be used to measure organic contamination related to nearby industrial spills and leaks which may enter a drinking water supply.
This Tap Score water test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a sample for certified laboratory testing. Reported results will include detailed, quantified analysis of TOC in a drinking water sample by Standard Method 5310 (or equivalent).
Total Organic Carbon Water Test
Is this the right test for you?
What our scientists say:
“ Because high total organic carbon (TOC) is associated with high tannins and other naturally occurring organic matter, it can be associated with a musty or earthy taste and smell. TOC can also come from bacterial growth or industrial chemicals. "
This is the right test if you:
- Water tastes or smells earthy or musty.
- Concerned about water purity for industrial or pharmaceutical applications.
