GenX and PFAS Water Test
Recommended by SimpleLab™ for specialized advanced analysis for 25 PFAS compounds (including GenX). These compounds are increasingly prevalent in the environment and are notorious for bioaccumulation in animal and human body tissues. GenX–also known by its chemical compound name Hexafluoropropylene Oxide Dimer Acid (HFPO-DA)–has gained attention in recent years, along with other related-PFAS compounds, after the widely reported chemical spill at the Chemours Fayetteville Works in North Carolina.
While many industries have voluntarily stopped use of PFAS compounds, the stability and persistence of these compounds makes them a lifetime concern–as even extremely low levels have been shown to have deleterious human health effects and can bioaccumulate over time. .
This Tap Score water test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a sample for certified laboratory testing. Reported results will include detailed, quantified analysis of 25 PFAS compounds by EPA Method 533 (or equivalent) down to concentrations below 2 parts per trillion (PPT).
GenX and PFAS Water Test
Is this the right test for you?
What our scientists say:
“ This test targets 25 common PFAS compounds, including GenX. PFAS (ie. forever chemicals) are associated with Teflon®, flame retardants, and non-stick items. PFAS have been detected in public water supplies and have a range of adverse health outcomes. "
This is the right test if you:
- Live near a military base or other location with heavy use of firefighting foam.
- Concerned about nearby industrial contamination or chemical spills.
- Served by a water utility with known contamination issues.
