Recommended for targeted testing of microplastics in drinking water. Microplastics enter the drinking water supply from an array of pollution and waste pathways–such as from tires rubbing against pavement, synthetic clothes, paint dust and microfibers. The impacts of microplastics on human health and wildlife are not well understood.

This Tap Score water test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a sample for certified laboratory testing. Reported results will include detailed analysis of polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, and polystyrene particles between 1 micron (um) and 5 mm in size.

Note: This testing package is designed for drinking water (tap or bottled water) only and cannot be used to analyze marine or surface water.

Microplastics Water Test

Is this the right test for you?

What our scientists say:

“ Research shows that bottled water contains 2x as many microplastics per liter as tap water on average. Microplastics typically enter bottled water during the bottling process. They can enter the water supplies from tires, paint dust, or microfibers. "

This is the right test if you:

    • Specifically interested in microplastics concentration
