Deuterium analysis is a reliable method for fingerprinting a water sample, or identifying what the source a water quality sample might be. This is commonly performed to see where a leak is coming from, or where a particular pollutant may be flowing from. Oxygen-18 (O-18) is a stable isotope of oxygen included with deuterium analysis. Comparing O-18 and deuterium concentrations allows you to evaluate your water sample's source AND evaporative history. Such analysis not only provides a way to trace your water source through soil and groundwater but also its movement in the atmosphere.

NOTE: Customers of this test almost always need to order multiple kits to properly identify a source–as the sample of unknown source, as well as suspected source(s) must be tested.

This Tap Score water test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a sample for certified laboratory testing. Reported results will include detailed, quantified analysis of deuterium and oxygen-18 isotopes in drinking water.
