Recommended for targeted testing of radium-226 in drinking water. A radioactive isotope of radium, radium-226 is a known human carcinogen with a particular impact on internal organs and the stomach. It cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted in drinking water. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) enforces a maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 5 pCi/L for radium-226 and radium-228 combined.

This testing package is particularly recommended for private well owners who have known radium-related issues or high alpha radiation results already (as radium-226 emits alpha particles).

This Tap Score water test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a sample for certified laboratory testing. Reported results will include detailed analysis of radium-226 by EPA method 903.0 (or equivalent).

Radium-226 Water Test

Is this the right test for you?

What our scientists say:

“ This targeted radium-226 test is only recommended typically if you already know your water has high alpha particle concentration or you suspect radium-226 contamination–usually related to nearby industrial activity. "

This is the right test if you:

    • Have confirmed prior results for elevated gross alpha particle radiation.
    • Located in an area with potential radiological contamination.
